About the Program
Warmth for Every Paw
Fur 4 Fur Friends is a GSP initiative dedicated to bringing comfort and warmth to animals in need. GSP sources quality fleece material and — together with our community partners — transforms that material into handmade no-sew tie blankets that are donated directly to the Cleveland Animal Protective League.
Every blanket we donate gives a shelter animal something soft and safe to rest on while they wait for the family that will love them forever. It is a small act with a big impact — and it starts with GSP.
How It Works
From Fleece to Furever Friend
GSP Sources the Materials
The Good Samaritan Project procures quality fleece fabric — selecting soft, durable material that will hold up and keep animals comfortable.
Volunteers Build the Blankets
In partnership with CWRU's Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) fraternity, volunteers gather to craft no-sew tie blankets — no sewing machine or experience needed, just willing hands.
Donated to Cleveland APL
Completed blankets are delivered directly to the Cleveland Animal Protective League, where shelter animals receive them while awaiting adoption.

The leadership behind The Good Samaritan Project grew up with beloved pets — dogs, cats, the four-legged companions who made childhood feel safe, joyful, and full of unconditional love. Those memories never leave you.
Knowing what that bond feels like made it impossible to look away from the animals who do not yet have it — the ones sitting in a shelter, without a warm bed or a family to curl up with. Fur 4 Fur Friends is our way of bridging that gap, even in a small way, until every one of them finds their furever home.

Cleveland Animal Protective League
Founded in 1913, the Cleveland APL is Northeast Ohio's oldest and largest animal welfare organization. Operating entirely on donations, they shelter, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need across Cuyahoga County — and every blanket we donate goes directly into their care.

Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI)Xi Deuteron Chapter — Case Western Reserve University
CWRU's Phi Gamma Delta chapter — known as FIJI — partners with GSP at our blanket-making events, turning fleece into finished tie blankets alongside our team. The Xi Deuteron chapter has been a cornerstone of the CWRU community since 1876, and their commitment to service makes them a natural fit for Fur 4 Fur Friends.

What Is a Tie Blanket?
Tie blankets are simple, beautiful, and require no sewing machine — just two layers of fleece cut to size, fringed along the edges, and hand-tied together. They are soft, durable, machine washable, and perfect for giving shelter animals a cozy, comforting place to rest.
That simplicity is part of the beauty. Anyone can participate — young or old, experienced or not. All you need is a pair of scissors, a few feet of fleece, and a willingness to help. GSP provides the materials. You provide the hands.
