Helping Hands
A day of fun and family for those who need a break from life's hardest moments.
About the Program
One Day. No Worries. Just Family.
Helping Hands is a GSP initiative built around a simple act of generosity: giving a family or individual a day completely free of stress. When GSP becomes aware of a situation — a family going through hard times, a personal hardship, a moment where someone desperately needs a break — we step in and give them exactly that.
A day at a Cleveland Guardians game. Cavs courtside. Tickets to a concert or theme park. A night out they would never have been able to afford on their own. The point is not the ticket — it is the feeling. A whole day where the weight lifts, the family laughs together, and for a few hours, everything is okay.
What a Helping Hands Day Looks Like
Experiences That Give People Room to Breathe
Cleveland Guardians
A day at the ballpark — hotdogs, summer air, and the crack of a bat. Baseball has a way of making the world feel simpler for nine innings.
Cleveland Cavaliers
Courtside energy, roaring crowds, and a night in the Q that a family will be talking about for years.
Theme Parks
Cedar Point, Geauga Lake, family adventure parks — a full day of screaming, laughing, and being a kid again together.
Concerts & Live Music
The moment the music starts and everything else fades out. A shared experience that bonds people in a way little else can.
Cleveland Monsters & More
Hockey, soccer, or any Cleveland-area event — whatever fits the family and makes the day feel special and theirs.
Cleveland Experiences
A rooftop dinner, a museum visit, a boat tour of the lakefront — Cleveland has more to offer than people realize, and we want families to experience it.
The Philosophy
Sometimes a Break Is What Changes Everything
Life has a way of grinding people down. Financial pressure, family hardship, health struggles, loss — these things pile up, and when they do, it becomes almost impossible to see beyond them. People stop laughing. Families stop connecting. The weight becomes the only thing.
Helping Hands is GSP's recognition that sometimes what a person needs is not money or a service — it is a day. One full day where they do not have to think about any of it. Where they get to be a parent enjoying their kids, a couple remembering why they fell in love, a family that is still whole and still capable of joy.
We cannot solve their problems. But we can give them a day that reminds them that life — their life — is still worth celebrating. And sometimes that reminder is exactly what shifts the trajectory.
"We aim to support our community with a helping hand that we hope changes the trajectory of our recipients' lives."— The Good Samaritan Project

How It Works
From Awareness to an Unforgettable Day
GSP Becomes Aware
Through our community network, nominations, or direct outreach, GSP learns of a family or individual going through a difficult situation.
We Plan the Day
The GSP team selects an experience suited to that family — an event they would love, at a time that works, with everything taken care of.
Everything Is Handled
GSP covers the tickets, the transportation, whatever is needed. The family shows up. The only job they have that day is to enjoy it.
A Memory Is Made
For one day, the stress is gone. The family laughs, connects, and leaves with a memory that belongs entirely to them.

Who We Help
Anyone Going Through a Hard Time
There is no checklist or income threshold. If someone in the Cleveland community is struggling and deserves a break, that is enough for GSP.
Families Under Stress
Parents working hard and stretched thin who just need one day to enjoy being a family.
Single Parents
Doing it all alone — deserving of a moment where someone else takes care of things.
Families Facing Illness
Medical hardship puts life on hold. A day out restores a sense of normalcy and joy.
Financial Hardship
When the budget leaves no room for fun, GSP makes sure fun is not out of reach.
Grief & Loss
Helping families find lightness again after loss — reminding them that joy is still possible.
Anyone Who Needs It
Life can be unpredictably cruel. Sometimes you just need a break. GSP makes that happen.
Know Someone Who Deserves a Day?
Nominate a Family or Individual
You do not have to be in a crisis to nominate someone for Helping Hands. If you know a family or person in the Cleveland community who is going through a genuinely tough time and could use one great day — tell us about them.
GSP will reach out, learn about them, and plan an experience that fits. All we need from you is who they are and why they deserve it.
Nominate SomeoneFund a Helping Hands Experience
Every Helping Hands day is made possible by community donations. When you give to this program, your money goes directly toward purchasing tickets, covering transportation, and making an experience happen for a family that needs it.
You may never meet the family your donation helps. But you will have given them a day they will never forget.

From The Good Samaritan Project
Everyone deserves a day where
the weight lifts — even briefly.
Life is unpredictably hard. GSP cannot fix every problem. But we can give people the one thing that is often the hardest to find in difficult times: a reason to laugh, and a memory to hold onto when things get hard again.
